45 CTEQ6.6 cross sections for W, Z, ttbar production

Values of W, Z, top-antitop production cross sections at the Tevatron Run-2 and LHC for 45 CTEQ6.6 PDF sets. These values can be used to compute correlation cosines between W, Z, ttbar, and arbitrary collider cross sections. A small program for such computation (written in C) is also available.

W, Z boson production

Dependence of Z boson production at the LHC on s, c, b contributions

The next three figures show correlation cosines for Z boson total production cross sections with PDF's at Q=85 GeV:
  1. with all scattering channels included (same as Fig. 8(c) in the paper);
  2. c-cbar and b-bbar contributions removed;
  3. s-sbar, c-cbar, and b-bbar contributions removed.
Note that there is a strong correlation with the gluon in the first two figures, but not in the third figure. This behavior indicates that the strong correlation with the gluon is mediated for a large part by the s-sbar contribution, and not by c-cbar, b-bar, or quark-glue contributions. In the same spirit, it can be shown that the strong correlation of W boson production with the gluon seen in Fig.8(d) is mediated largely by the c-sbar contribution.
